My evening skincare routine has changed quite a bit since I wrote this post, so I thought it was a good time for an update!
I started using Mary Kay products in high school (back in the Velocity days) because my mom sold it on the side. She was basically your modern-day Avon lady ;). Once she stopped selling it, I stopped using it. Then, in college, a girl in my sorority hosted a Mary Kay party and I purchased the TimeWise Miracle Set because I was amazed by how good it felt on my skin during the demo. I used it until the products ran out, then went years without ever thinking about the stuff because, hello, college girl budget.
I was invited to another Mary Kay party a few months before our wedding and jumped at the opportunity because I remembered how amazing my skin felt, and I really wanted my best possible skin for our big day. I ended up buying the TimeWise Miracle Set again, as well as a few other items, and they’ve been part of my daily skincare routine for the past 11 months now.
This post is not an advertisement or sponsored, I’ve just truly been amazed by how much my skin has improved since using these products again. My makeup artist even complimented how good my skin looked and felt while doing my makeup on my wedding day.
So here’s a step-by-step of my evening routine:
01. Remove makeup using a makeup wipe
Obviously this isn’t a Mary Kay product, but it’s part of my evening skincare routine so I’m sharing. I always feel like I’m just pushing my makeup around when I go straight for the cleanser. Removing as much makeup as possible with these wipes before using my cleanser really allows me to clean my actual skin, not just remove the makeup.
I use the wipe all over my face in a circular motion. I gently hold on my eye lids, as well, for about 15-20 seconds to loosen up my eye makeup, then wipe off as much as I can.
I wet my face with warm water, apply a small amount of cleanser all over my face (about the size of a nickel), then use the brush to work into my skin. I remove with a warm wash cloth and pat dry. The cleansing brush has made a huge difference in my skin, as it remove dry, dead skin like a dream!
I use the TimeWise Microdermabrasion Refine exfoliator 2-3 times a week (sometimes more if my skin is really dry). This stuff is powerful when it comes to removing dead skin!
I wet my skin with warm water and apply a small amount to my face (about the size of a dime) in a circular motion using the tips of my fingers. I’ll exfoliate for about 30-45 seconds, then remove with the same wash cloth and pat dry.
04. Remove remaining eye makeup
At this point, I remove any remaining eye makeup that might be left over with a cotton pad. Mary Kay makes a great and affordable oil-free eye makeup remover.
Also not a Mark Kay product, but one of my favorites! I had just started using the Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist when I wrote this post, and I’ve loved it ever since. I spray this all over my face just before applying my cream-based products to help them go on even and smooth.
06. Minimize pores
I use the TimeWise Pore Minimizer day and night to reduce the appearance of pores and redness. I have massive pores and pinkish/redish undertones to my skin, especially after scrubbing away with my cleanser and exfoliator. I can see a noticeable difference in pore size, and especially in the redness of my skin.
I apply 1-2 pumps of the product all over my face.
07. Apply a night solution
I love the TimeWise Night Solution! The little beads in the serum contain antioxidants that are great for the skin’s renewal process.
A pump and a half is enough to cover my entire face and neck.
The TimeWise Anti-Aging Moisturizer for normal/dry skin is my favorite product in the entire TimeWise line. Even if I stopped using Mary Kay, I would still use this moisturizer. It’s super light, but provides an amazing amount of moisture for my dry skin!
I apply a dime size amount to my face and neck.
09. Show my lips some love
I was gifted this lip set for Christmas and it’s quickly become part of my evening routine. I start with the Shea Sugar Scrub, followed by the Shea Butter Balm. The scrub has been great to have this winter while my skin (especially my lips) are super dry. And following the scrub with the balm feels so luxurious. As always, my product preference could change, but these are the products I’m loving right now and using on repeat.
And there you have it! Of course I’m always open to trying other/new products, but these are the ones that have been on repeat for my evening routine for almost a year now.
