Beauty Review: Tint Skin Foundation by Beautycounter

I was recently introduced to Beautycounter a few months ago and have been trying out their skincare line since then.  While I haven’t been super impressed with the skincare products, I really like the company’s mission.  Their number one priority is getting safer beauty products into the hands of as many people as possible.  The most fascinating thing I’ve discovered since being introduced to Beautycounter, is that the US has not passed a major piece of federal legislation in regards to regulations on personal care products since 1938.  I also learned that while Europe has banned over 1,300 toxic chemicals in personal care product formulas, the US has only banned 11.  Pretty crazy, right?  The founder, other employees, and consultants of Beautycounter aren’t just creating and selling safer products, they’re also fighting law makers everyday to enforce stricter regulations on personal care products.  That’s something I can get in line with.

When I first purchased the Face Collection, I got a $30 credit to use.  Beautycounter works similarly to Birchbox and Ulta in the aspect of receiving credit for purchases made.  Each time you make a purchase, they give you money to spend.

I was just about out of foundation so I decided to put my $30 to work and give the Tint Skin Foundation a go.

I would describe this foundation as being very lightweight and easy to apply.  With that said, I would also describe the Tint Skin as a buildable foundation.  And what I mean by buildable, is that one coat won’t be enough if you’re wanting/needing full coverage.  But that’s also what I love about this product.  One coat is perfect for a simple day of running errands or grabbing coffee with friends, while simply adding a second coat is perfect for work days or special events.  I also love that multiple coats of the product doesn’t make it feel heavy or cakey.  Below is a photo of me wearing one coat of the Tint Skin that I applied with a blending sponge.  The shade I use is Linen.  The only thing I have on is my moisturizer and the foundation.

All in all, I really like the product.  At first, I thought the price of the product was way too much.  After using it and reading more about Beautycounter, I came to the conclusion that it’s actually not much more than the foundations I was already using, AND it’s much safer for my skin and body because it doesn’t have all the harsh chemicals and toxins that are in most products we use every single day.

Check out Beautycounter’s list of ingredients they’ve committed to keeping out of their products, as well as  their ingredient glossary which is a list and description of every single ingredient used in Beautycounter products.

*Exciting news* Right now Beautycounter is giving away a free sample pack of the Tint Skin Foundation with any purchase.  The pack includes four different shades ranging from light to dark.  So if you’re wanting to give this product a try before buying a full size, this is a great way to do it!  A couple of other products I also love by Beautycounter is the Nourishing Cream Exfoliator, Nourishing Rosewater Mist, Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer, and the Soothing Face Oil.

Have you tried any Beautycounter products before?  If so, which ones and how did you like them?
