I like the idea of reflection. While some weeks can be really crappy, most of the time if I stop and take a look at everything I’ve got going on in my life, I can move past the not-so-fun-situations and still find something to be grateful for. With that said, I’ve decided to start a weekly Friday Favorites post, or a reflection post on five different times something good happened during the week. It may be something coming, something that happened, or something I read/tried/listened to that made me smile or have a moment of pure enjoyment. It may not even be a big, life-changing event. As I get older, I’m learning to appreciate the little things even more.
one… Phil and I are travelling to Charlotte this weekend to visit his family. His older brother, sister-in-law, and niece are moving to Germany in a few short weeks for two or three years so this will be the last time we see them for a while unless we travel to Germany (which I’m not opposed to!).
I’m happy to be heading to the city not only to see them, but to stop by an Ulta! The closest Ulta to us here in the mountains is about an hour away in Asheville. I need some makeup, but hate having to pay the shipping cost and prefer to see and try the products before I buy them. I’ve got my mind set on trying the it Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream with SPF 50+ and Tarte’s Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara. I’ve heard great things about both! I’ll probably just purchase the smaller, sample size in each to make sure I like them first. I’m also on the search for a colorful, summer lipstick so I’ll keep you posted on how that goes!
two… My sister and I got our room booked for our beach vacation in July this week! Our aunt and uncle live in Charleston, SC so we are going drive down and stay with them two nights before going to Myrtle Beach, SC for the rest of the week. Phil’s band has a show in Myrtle that same week so we thought it was the perfect opportunity to have a little vacation!
three… I’m throwing Phil and his friend Alex a birthday party the first week of July and we’ve decided on having a slip-n-slide. I’ve been doing some research on how to make a homemade slip-n-slide and found this article that literally made me LOL. While it’s hilarious and has a joking tone, it’s actually very informative.
four… I’ve eaten Mexican for dinner two nights this week and am having it for dinner again tonight. The food gods have blessed me.
five… I bought a couple of scents for my car this week from Yankee Candle. Right now my car smells like Sage and Citrus and I’m tempted to sleep there it smells so good. Yankee Candle is having a sell on select merchandise right now, too. I noticed that you can get some of the cardboard air fresheners for a buck! You’re welcome.
How’s your week been?
